Autumn Leaves – April 12, 2020

<< PreviousIndexNext >>

There were two trees like this outside my place. Last year, one of them died and was blown over by a bit of wind, blocking the driveway (and destroying one tenant's wheelie bin). Last spring this one looked dead so I contacted the agent about having it removed. While everyone was trying to decide if a tree near the footpath was the responsibility of the landlord or Oberon Council the tree sprouted buds, long after other trees around it had been covered in leaves. It looks dead in the photo, but the leaves went brown and dropped off weeks before other trees even started to change colour. I don't know what sort of tree it is, but it obviously comes from somewhere where the interval between the start of spring and the start of autumn is close to the usual distance between Monday and Friday everywhere else. A Mystery.
